Wheelchair Walkers What features would seniors find attractive when visiting an e-commerce website?
I'm currently designing a website that will sell medical products online. It will be targeted to seniors, with products such as wheelchairs, walkers, incontinence products, etc... What features would make it more user friendly for seniors?
I think current seniors are internet-shy, but the seniors on the horizon (namely babyboomers) are increasingly more computer savvy. They want websites that are easy to navigate-- not too much fancy stuff and large type for their aging eyes.
Of course they want a secure site as they want to make sure no one is trying to take advantage of them.

Part 2 When a child is allowed to decide wheelchair vs use walkers for him/herself?
Would you advise the child of any advantages to be able to at least walk a little?
Do the parents have any emotion with this issue?
Walking is overrated.
What has to be looked at is how can this child best navigate their world. There is so much stigma attached to wheelchair use that people (and parents) feel as if they are a failure if they roll instead of walk. They have to stop thinking of one as intrinsically better than the other.
Wheelchairs and scooters are a pain to use in many ways. Out in the world there are steps to navigate and at home there are close quarters. Not even a child can escape knowing the challenges one faces when a person rolls instead of walks.
A child should be supported in what decision they make no matter what their age. Not even a child is going to take this decision lightly. And like anyone who uses a chair, if there are any safe opportunities to go without - they take them gladly.
I think this is an issue created in the minds of the physically able bodied who value walking ( and "passing" as nondisabled over independence, painlessness, and the unmistakenness of appearing disabled.)
