Wheelchair Transport Chairs What do I do after FEMA has exhausted my appeals?
My husband and I were stranded in Hurricane Ike last September in Galveston, TX. We lost nearly everything. Thank goodness I had full coverage on our wheelchair accessible van - our insurance made it possible to for us to move after being in a shelter for 6 weeks. We have done everything they requested. All we have asked for is reimbursement for the u-haul van (to transport my husband's power-chair) and my medical expenses (my right knee got broken transporting my husband in a manual chair). We're not being ridiculous by requesting everything we lost, just relocation & medical, about $1,800.00 & we have the receipts & signed medical releases.They claim this is due to the fraud from Katrina, they are ostracizing everyone. Has anybody been through his & how did you handle it? Did you win?
I know Katrina fraud is real, it's a shame the people who do it the honest way can't get what they deserve.
