Wheelchair Transfer Boards
Activities (easy-not at home) for adult woman with mental and physical disabilities?
So I'm have trouble thinking of things to do. She is able to walk but is always in her transfer wheelchair unless at home. I have to think of some out of the house activities for her to do. Very minimal activity as she does not enjoy/is unable to do things that involve much thinking (such as board games). I take her to the movies, the mall, out to dinner, to places to paint(plaster fun time), I have taken her to the aquarium but I'm looking for places cheaper than aquariums/museums. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I don't know exactly where you live (and even if I did, it probably wouldn't help me as I'm not up on my US geography here in Australia) but I would suggest perhaps the beach, the lake, the river.. a lookout, somewhere scenic.. perhaps you could take a picnic?
My partner is a wheelchair user and I took him just to the local park one night and we had a really nice picnic (I borrowed a table from my mum which was just the right height for him to sit at).
I have a client who has intellectual and physical disabilities, and I have done activities with her where I have bought chocolate and fruit and we've dipped the druit in the chocolate.. we've also made cupcakes, scones and pancakes.. we've also done art and craft at her house. These don't cost much depending on what you're doing.
Could you take her bowling?? Here in Australia they have special starter ramps for people who have disabilities to put their bowling balls on and they just have to aim the ramp down the alley. They then just have to push the ball rather than throw it.
Sorry if none of these work, but I've exhausted my ideas list!
