Wheelchair Stores
Where can I buy a used wheelchair?
I've tried thrift stores, swap meets, ebay and craigs list. I'm on a tight budget and can't afford to spend a lot of money. I've found no local organizations that can help me. Any suggestions?
I'm in the San Diego, CA area.
It may be worth a shot to place an ad in your local paper... a lot of time people may have one just sitting there that they don't need and not make any effort to do anything with it. But if they know you need one, they may contact you to see if it will work for you. I've even found some listed in garage sale listings in our area.
Also, if there are any rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, etc. in your area, contact them and see if they have one that they may be able to help you out with. They may be able to take your information in case they find out about one.
I've found many items, including wheelchairs, at our local mission center. Churches are also a good place to check... they may know someone who has one that could be parted with.
I wish you the best in locating one. I have a son who is a wheelchair user and I know how difficult and costly it is to find one.

Do a Yahoo/Google search for a medical supply store in your city, or the nearest largest city to you. They should sell wheelchairs of all kinds and even some power wheelchairs if you're interested.
Or, you could also ask his doctor about where to get a hold of one, and if it's possibly covered by insurance.
