Wheelchair Pads
I'm looking for help from someone in a wheelchair.?
I'm designing a door for disability services as my final project in my electronics engineering course.
The goal is to build a door so someone in a wheelchair can easily access the room. The door is in a high traffic area so a common sensor won't work as it will constantly be opening the door. This door was also designed for someone without the use of limbs.
So far the door responds to voice commands (open and close). There is also a pressure pad to sense if someone is near the door etc.
I was wondering if there could be other things to add so that the door is more accessible to those with other disabilities.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
My mother has a passcard that she keeps in the side pocket of a purse. When she passes by a sensor it opens the door for her. Sorry, I don't know how it work though.

Washing hair for person in wheelchair without getting them soaked. Used shampoo board, didn't work.?
Just started doing hair in a nursing home and I have just soaked these women. I feel so sorry for them. I need a gadget or some great ideas. Some of them can't even bend their head back.
Used a "cape" that goes around the head and fastens with velcro; They don't like that it's too tight. I don't think it is but...
Used a cape that had a padded border but the water went down the neck anyway. The home has a shampoo board made of plastic. It's supposed to fit around the clients' neck but it really doesn't and they still get soaked. Any ideas would be great. The nursing home personnel isn't much help.
Shampoo boards work great, but you have to follow a special procedure.
