Wheelchair Mobility Aids
Can anyone help?...............Has anyone ever had this and what did they say it was?
I started a year ago with backache, the pain was so severe, within 3 weeks i lost the mobility in my left leg, i went to a consultant in this field and they did mri scans, they said it wasn't siatica, slipped discs or ttrapped nerves as my spine was ok, a bit of wear and tear but ok.
I have been in continuall pain for a year now living on one of the highest tablets they can give you (oxycontin 80mg 3x per day) and paracetamol in the middle of taking these along with using my tens machine so i can have a bit of mobility.
I can not walk without the aid of crutches, and i can not get up the stairs anymore without crutches and two people helping me up them. To go farther than 5mtrs i need a wheelchair.
I am now on anti-depressants due to the pain being so bad i tried to end my life, i have also been told i need an hysterectomy but can not have it because of my immobility.
Has anyone ever suffered with anything like this, did they diagnose it?, What was it? please help...
I was like this for years, they finally told me just over 2 years ago that I was born with a loose hip joint and it had totally worn away! (I was 37 at the time lol) As a result, arthritis had set in in my hip, pelvis and femur. I had my hip replaced but it is not very stable due to the arthritis. Over the years I have had several x-rays and lots of physio for my 'back' as the doctors said it was as a result of owning horses! (Everyone with horses has a bad back lol) I still cannot work out how it was all missed for so long! I still walk with crutches now, although I can poter about indoors but I have to be careful as if I fall that is it, wheelchair here I come! Mine is my left hip. I was also told at one point that I needed a hysterectomy as one doctor said I was suffering from endometriosis - an internal scan put paid to that lol I now take Co-Codamol 30/500mg 2 tablets four times a day, and 300mg of Pregablin twice a day - this is an anti-epilepsy drug which works on chronic pain by sending different messages to the nerves, it hasn't cured it for me and the side effects are awful until your body has adjusted but it has made my pain manageable and I have been back at work for 6 months now.
Obviously I am not saying this is what is wrong with you as I am not a doctor, but a lot of what you are describing is very familiar so surely it is worth asking!

my daughter is severley autistic, has no speech, no sense of danger...we have been on the lower rate mobility and middle rate care for some time now but i really think she should be on high rate mobility because simply public transport is a nightmare for her if people open windows or people look at her she will attack people and can only go out with 2 people at a time, i have applied for higher rate mobility for her but am worried that maybe she wont recieve this due to the fact that she isnt in a wheelchair or has some form of aid to help her be mobile, she is 11 and is extremely hard work, is anyone else in a similiar situation to me or been in it? what happened?
i know this probably isn't the answer you were hoping for but as you haven't received any other answers so far, i hope it will at least be a small amount of assistance.
i presume your daughter attends a special school, wouldn't it be a good idea to speak with other parents or maybe the school has a dedicated staff member who knows about this sort of thing?
