Wheelchair Medicare
How about we fix the graft and oversight of Medicare first, before inflicting Healthcare on everyone?

Medicare paid $1200 to rent a wheelchair for a patient? The same wheelchair could be bought outright for $440. Why do we want government involved? Why do we think prices will be going down if we get more government involved?
Medicare does not seem to negotiate for reasonable prices, even though the government has the clout to do so.
There are lot of these rental schemes in Medicare, for different kinds of equipment, and some of the monthly rates are atrociously high -- like for special beds for the treatment of decubitus sores.
The inspector general's office of HHS seems to know of these problems, and they write reports, but it seems that is all they have the power to do.
And when individuals complain, it is just very difficult to find a telephone number which is not a recording or not to just get a letter ignored.
Write with specific examples to the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and the committee in the Senate which has oversight over Medicare (I forgot which one that is.)

Medicare (Australia) $92.4 Medicare is Australias publiclyfunded universal health care system, operated by the government authority Medicare Australia. Medicare is intended to provide affordable treatment by doctors and in public hospitals for all resident citizens and permanent residents except for those on Norfolk Island. Does Medicare provide wheelchairs or a potty chair for the elderly?
Patient had ostomy surgery and will be going home soon.
Ok, the answer is YES!! If they are already on MEDICARE then all they need to do is make sure that the Dr. writes a prescription for the wheelchair and the bed-side commode. Then you just take that to a medical supply store and they will get the things for patient and send the bill to MEDICARE. But, if they already have a wheelchair or bed-side commode then NO, they will NOT pay for them. Either way, the DR. has to write the prescriptions. With out that MEDICARE wil not pay for any of it!!
