Does anyone know where i can get the best price for my car? in the uk?
I am selling my car and wondered where would be the best place to get a good price, would you say private or with a dealer.
It is a Vauxhall Astra, 2.2sri 16v 2 door manual, full body kit by manufacture light silver, alloy wheels 02 reg, i am after £4,200 for it, but wondered if selling it private would give me the better price.
Its a gorgeous car and drives lovely, but i am disabled now, so i need a bigger car for my wheelchairs.
A private sale will bring you the most money sam, if you go to a dealer they will offer you about 15% less than the car is worth. If you don't need a quick sale list the car in autotrader (and any other things like that), get a sign on it asking for £4,500 ono and get on internet sites that sell cars. You might want to try e-bay too, you can put a reserve on it of £4,000 just in case and then see what it gets at auction. If you need a quick sale take it to as many dealers as you can and each time ask for a little bit more than you were offered last time, then take the best offer you get.

would like to mount speakers to ultralight titanium wheelchair any ideas?
its an ultralight titanium chair so it doesnt weight much. this gives me more to work with as far as adding weight. ive only got so much realestate to work with however for the placement so size is critical smaller the better but i dont want to sacrifice to much in sound quality. it should be a method with decent to excellent bass so a subwoofer with good sound. ive looked into an all in one way of doing it but havent found yet one that looks like it will mount where it needs to go below the solid carbon fiber seat bottom. if you know of one that may work let me know. otherwise i guess ill have to mount a sub under and the smaller high speakers out the sides. it would be cool if i could have the option to add a syncronized led light kit to it. i suppose one of those square twelve volt batteries that are used to power things like lanterns and such would be a good choice for power unless somebody can thing of anything else. thanks for your time!!!!! -Weelz
Well you have a pretty big project going on here. I have actually done similar things to my wheelchairs in the past. I had a Quickie GPV that I had mounted a sub and tweeter to it. First thing you will need to do is make some form of a platform under your chair this will actually make your butt vibrate if you mount the sub there. Depending upon what the shape of the frame is will make all the difference on how hard it will be to make the platform. If you have ever seen a picture of the GPV you will notice under the seat there are to bars that run the length of the chair. Find some sheet metal and cut it to fit between these two bars. Don't use wood or anything other then metal because eventually the wood will break. Then you will need a grinder to grind the paint off so that you can weld the platform there. Then after doing that make sure to repaint the area were you grinded the paint so that it does not rust. Then figure out just how big of speakers you want again this depends on the shape of the chair. I was able to fit a 10 in. sub with speaker box. I also used a 6X9 for a tweeter. Which I mounted to the push bar on the back of the chair
Now on to an even harder part. You stated that you wanted to have decent bass and good sound. First things first you need to figure out what type of head unit (cd player, tape cassette I don't think they even make those anymore) If you use a portable cd player it will sound like crap. So I recommend using a car stereo Simply because you can adjust the how much bass and other things to make it sound a little better.
Now you have to figure out a power source. Using a 12 volt battery will not be enough power for very long or even have enough juice to make it work at all. So I recommend using a small car battery, but be careful so that you do spill any battery acid on your chair or you. Damn does it hurt. Mount this on the platform too. You will have to figure out how you want to charge the system which to this day I can not figure out how to make so that you don't have to recharge the battery all the time.
That is about everything you will need. Like I said before it all depends on the type of chair and the shape of the frame, so play around with it. This could very well take some major time to complete. But that is part of the fun of doing these types of projects. I do have pictures somewhere in this world but I just moved into a new house so all of my crap is still in boxes. Let me know how it turns out, and if you have any other questions. In my free time I do Automotive Restoration so I can give you pointers on how to make the whole thing mesh together so that it looks like that's how the manufacturer built it. You don't want have a something looks like it was put together over night.
Oops I almost forgot welding to titanium is very difficult to do so unless you have some experience in welding I recommend going to either a machine shop and having them do it for you or go to a auto body shop some of them have the right welder to weld titanium. Titanium is one of the best metals out there as far as weight and strength but it's mother-fer to weld. Hints the reason why titanium chairs are so freaking expensive. Some places might charge you to do this while others won't. If you can't afford to have someone do this try bartering with the see if you put some form of advertisement on your chair if they will work with you on the price.
One more thing I forgot to mention make sure that the chair you are doing this to an old chair that is not your daily driver, because by modifying it like this it voids the warranty. Trust me you don't want to have this happen. When I did this to my chair I thought you know I have never had any problems that are covered by the warranty with any of my chairs, sure enough shortly after doing this I started to have problems with the paint peeling off in the areas that I did not touch. Again have fun with it don't get in a hurry to get it done. Take your time and plan every move you make. When you are finished go to car shows and show it off. I have used my chair along with some of the cars that I have restored and customized. Good luck.
