Wheelchair Lifespan
I think he wants a baby but I don't?
A bit of history I'm 20, he's 23, I work full time, he's unemployed on disability support pension, he has a hip replacement on his left saide which he had done when he was 16 or 17, the average lifespan of a hip replacement is 10 years before another one needs to be done, he keeps mentioning that one day he is going to be in a wheelchair after having the maximum amount of replacements he can have, also mentions that he doesn't like wearing condoms and asks me on the odd occasion about babies examples include: "If we have a baby what would we call it?" "If we had a child who would look after it?" questions like that, he even asked me yesterday if I wanted a family with him one day, I've only been out of school 2 years, have only just got started in my career, I feel that I'm too young, but I get the feeling that is what he wants... a family but I'm not ready what should I do?
It's your life. You must tell him now how you feel before it's too late and you become an unhappy parent. We don't need any more kids in this world with an unhappy, unfulfilled parent. If he won't use condoms, then you must take the responsibility. It would be infinitely better if you both could agree on some plan BEFORE you marry (I'm assuming that you and he would marry before becoming parents). If you can't agree now, then it's good to find that out so that you both can seek partners who share your values.

worrying is going to kill me..?
i have muscular dystrophy (14). i'm scared that i'm going to die very early.
i go to my orthopedic surgeon every 6 months to a year for check ups. i had one two weeks ago. i've seen him since birth. but he has never ever mentioned to my parents or me about lifespan issues. but i'm just scared. like, i don't want to worry anymore, you know? it's making me physically sick and exhausted.
i've asked my parents about lifespan and they've said they are pretty sure i'm going to live a normal life, other than being in a wheelchair and having to have help on some activities. they wouldn't lie, would they?
all i really wanna know is how i can quit worrying about the future and enjoy the present? please be sensitive if you don't mind..
You should get yourself a book on the subject at the library or at a bookstore, or do some web searching for the information you are looking for on the condition. Being informed goes a long way in reducing your fears. And don't be shy to ask your doctor the questions you have in your mind - they are supposed to educate you too about your illness.
