What kind of companies would hire semi-disabled people?
All the companies i've worked for want you to work fast and everything seems fast-paced..Recently with new knee problems, i feel i can't be rushed too much cause i can't walk sometimes.. perhaps if i was an engineer or something doing things in my desk i wouldn't have to move fast.. but i'm not that. So i've been doing job search looking for clerical jobs, do youo think they would eever accept people who move slowly due to health problems? Doesn't seem like it. What i've seen so far is many companies accept your disability if it's something like you're in a wheelchair, but they don't seem to be open to other things.
Likely it depends on your skill set and knowledge more than you moving slowly. I work with a guy that has had total hip replacement and total knee replacement. He was a new hire - after the procedures.
He walks slowly but boy does he know his stuff. (Inventory control and purchasing research).
Check with your local state employment office, local training centers, and colleges. They are free when it comes to asking for info and they tend to be most up to date on the opportunities available and the skill/knowledge requirements.
Good hunting!
