Wheelchair Handicap Vehicles
What are my options for handicapped drivable vehicles?
I use a wheelchair to get around and I have dwarfism. What are my options of vehicles? Also is there any type of funding available for buying handicapped drivable vehicles?
Thats hard to answer. How much mobility do you actually have? I have seen paraplegics drive minivans and even motor homes from their wheelchair. I have seen some people that drive just any car by folding their chair and putting it in the back seat.
Did you check with the LPA, ? Surely there must be some information there.

12 year old child wheel chair bound for 6 months family needs to get a handicaped car with little money?
My childrens best friend was in a car accident and is now wheelchair bound for 6 months while her crushed pelvic region heals. Her family is financially strapped and needs help with getting a handicapped accessable vehicle while their child heals. They live in Illinois are there any agencies that they can contact to help get assistance? Thank you and God Bless.
That would be nice but the child shattered her pelvic region and can put no weight on her legs if she would it would cause further damage and her mother just had surgery not making it able to lift the child. They have lifts in the home but the car poses a problem. We were thinking that there was somewhere where they could rent a van until the child heals.
Have your friends look into renting a wheelchair accessible van for the duration of their child's rehabilitation. Often insurance will cover the cost of renting for a temporary disability. This will be far less expensive than purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle that they will then have to turn around and sell in six months.
