Are there any cardiovascular exercises for the disabled?
My mum has bad arthritis and, although ot in a wheelchair) has great difficulty walking or standing for long. She is trying to lose some weight but needs to exercise. She cant afford to join a gym.
I have tried Googling but can only come up with hoists and other equipment to help with exercising
I don't know the full extent of her capabilities, but a stationary recumbent exercise bike gives a cardiovascular workout that is easy on the joints, comfortable for the back. Basically you're sitting in a horizontal position.
Also, anything she does with her arms such as overhead press, circles, bicep curls, etc.... will get her heartrate up and be a great addition to the bike.
