Group activities idea, with elderly?

I am a summer activities aid in a elderly care facility, usually my job consists of helping the elders with the already staged activities, but next month I actually have to put together and stage my own activity for the elders. Usually in the activities about 75% of the elders are sleeping in their wheelchairs. Almost 100% if the elders are in wheelchairs. And a lot of them have a memory loss problem. Our activities consist of reading group, someone reads to them, exercises, bowling (sending the ball down a ramp) and bingo for example. I personally love and could lead groups better if they invovled reading, writing, and music and would like to do an activity incorporating these topics while keeping the elders awake… Help!

Trivia games: people sit around in a circle to participate.
Hang man, using a white or chalk board in front of the circle of people
Karaoke using songs from the past.
Coloring with erasable felt markers and coloring pages. Hang them on the wall when done.
Paper crafts, like making seasonal decorations to hang on the walls.
If they are fairly lucent, help them make home made note cards to write home on.
Sit in a circle and pass a large lightweight ball back and forth.
Bingo! You can get of make large bingo cards, and you can use large bottle caps as playing pieces.
