How to stop a patient slipping to one side whilst propped up in bed. There must be a simple solution to this?
My mother has Parkinson's disease and is in a good Care Home. She spends her day sitting in a wheelchair or in bed, so that she can read or watch TV. She finds the chair uncomfortable. No matter how well she is propped up in bed or repositioned by the nurses, she always slides off and lurches to one side.
It sounds as if your mother is at a point where she is having many "off times" with her medications. These off times produce dystonia/dyskinesia which cause her body to lurch.
There are excellent cushions with arms which will envelop her in a way that a chair would. This is certainly worth the investment for her comfort and safety. Here are a couple of links to this type of pillow-cushion:

It does sound as if it is time to speak to her doctor(s) about medication adjustments and changes in attempt to lessen the dystonias she has to endure as her medication wears off. It might involve decreasing the time between doses or adding another medication to the mix.
Although it appears to take much longer to make the proper adjustments for dystonia, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery may also be an avenue you wish to explore for your mother. It is certainly worth discussing with her neurologist.

Although you mother may have dystonic movements as a result of medication imbalance rather than having Dystonia, you should also read the article below:

As to chairs, your mother probably needs a recliner chair with good controls which do not require strength. I don't know if this is an option in her Care Home but it is worth a discussion, especially if you were to purchase the chair.

how will you transfer disabled person bed to wheelchair?
First of all, it does depend on their weight, your strength, and the distance. Can they stand at all or are they unable to bare weight. My suggestion is to get a gait belt from your local pharmacy and use it, get the chair as close to the bed as possible. Put the gait belt around their waist and tighten it to where it doesn't slip up or down but you can fit both sets of fingers to the middle knuckles. When lifting them, bend your knees and tell them to put their hands on your shoulders ( NOT YOUR NECK) and hold on while you lift them from the chair. Have their knees against your thighs as your lift and swing toward the bed. Be sure to get them set on the bed far enough that the back of their knees are touching the bed.
