Where is the option for being paraplegic and working for my money in a desk job?
I'm lucky and don't get too much pain so I'm not on bucket loads of painkillers anymore. If they want to run SSI checks on me they'll see I'm not cheating anyone out of anything so I've got nothing to worry about there.
I think my life is better now than it was before my accident. My relationship with my husband is better - we talk more. I have less friends around me but at least I know that the friends I do have are genuine. I enjoy my job, it's more interesting than the slightly more physical job that I did before my accident. If I was taken back in time to the afternoon of the accident I wouldn't do anything differently.
Also, why would your hypothetical paraplegic be in a power wheelchair? I know a lot of paraplegics and none of them use powerchairs. Some tetraplegics use powerchairs but they are not paraplegic.

What can I put in a Gift bag for an elderly woman?
Hi. My mom works at a rehabilation center for the elderly. This summer I am going to try to cheer up some of the elderly people that's family hardly ever visits them. What I'm doing now is making a wheelchair bag for this one lady. What are some things I can put inside to cheer her up even more? Thanks and also can you include some thinks for men...just in case.
Also..try to keep it on the cheap side...im only 12!!
Ask at the admission desk - you can find out what the center furnishes so you don't duplicate.
The center will know of things they need that are not furnished and need to be paid for by them or the allowance. (They generally have a 50 dollar allowance, if they are on Medicare.- which doesn't buy much.
You can always buy artificial flowers - they are better - if they get tipped over, no harm is done.
Each patient has a different capacity and different needs.
