Wheelchair Access Is it against the law to block a wheelchair access ramp?
I go to a working mens club and there is only one wheelchair ramp which is in the smoking area. Recently there has been doging the door man to go through this area to gain access to the club so what the club has done is put up iron gates and according to them it has been passed by the local council afforitites, even through its blocking a disability ramp, so if someone in a wheelchair wanted to attend it would be inpossible for them to gain access to the premises. I'm not disabled thank goodness and when i bring this up to other members they don't want know, but that isn't the point anyone can become disabiled in a wheelchair then the see things differently. I tought the disability Act 2005 covered this, what do you think guys, or is this club trying to tell lies, because no letters have been put on the wall for members to see, that it has been passed.
They can't be expected to employ 2 door men and have 1 of them standing around all night. You can't walk up the stairs though, so you should have access to a ramp (especially since it is already built). Perhaps you can wait in line and the doorman can go and let you in when it's your turn if the beginning of the line is reasonably close to the other entrance. If it isn't possible, you might ask if you can call ahead and then call while you are waiting.
