Way Powered
any way to use my powered subwoofer in a older stereo that has no subwoofer plug?
This stereo is older but has surround and a center outputs on back but no subwoofer output. I have a onkyo powered subwoofer and would like to use it. Is there a place on the back I could plug in to. The sub has rca jacks on it Thanks
The subwoofer probably already is crossed over, and has left and right inputs I'm assuming. All you need is two RCA Y Adapters, like this one: http://pix.crutchfield.com/kb/Y-adapt.jpg
You plug the male ends into the receiver, and have the left channel from your audio source go into one of the adapters, and right into the other. Then you take an RCA and plug one end into one of the remaining female ends, and the other into the other female end. Take the end of the RCA that you just connected, and plug it into the subwoofer. And there you go, your done.
