Transportation Wheelchair Vans

Need Transportation?
I am in a wheelchair and can not drive. We live in the middle of nowhee and the public buses do not come out this far. We can not afford a lift van To pay the buses to run out hear is too much money. I am Starting collage in September and need a ride there Do you know places where I could get one?
I Live in Cotunna MI I have called them but not said what for
Do you know anyone else who lives near you going to the same college. For this you'll probably need to be able to transfer from wheelchair to car and sit in the car for the amount of time it takes to get to college
You could probably get a taxi - they should have wheelchair accessible cars/vans
How far away are the buses you could possibly get a lift to the nearest bus stop from friend or family member.
As someone else said would you be able to drive an adapted car or have you got someone who is willing to drive you if you can get an adapted car/van. There may be some charities that will pay for this or you could get a second hand one which is already adapted
Last resort you could live on or near campus

An Inspiring Hero Receives a Wheelchair Van from Ride-Away
How to help paralyzed friend?
My friend Robert was recently injured in an accident and broke his neck. He is paralyzed from the neck down and will remain on a ventilator for the rest of his life. He's much like Christopher Reeves was. Unfortunately, Robert lived at poverty level BEFORE all of this happened. He is unmarried, has no children and very few family available to assist him. His girlfriend seems willing to stick around for now, but they were already on rocky ground before the accident so I'm not sure how long she'll hang on. They had no transportation, he rode to work with a friend. Is there any government assistance he could qualify for to receive special transportation given the state of his condition? He'll need a special van that is wheelchair accessible. Right now we're just trying to keep him from becoming homeless, there's no way we can help with a van. Thanks! (FYI- No workman's comp on this job either. Hoping homeowner's will cover from the ladies house he was working on)
Medicaid? The people at the hospital who are caring for your friend (mainly the social workers) should be able to help your friend get situated with all the things he will need to live with his injury. He may not be able to get a special van of his own. He may have to rely on taxi/vans made for handicapped people to pick him up and drive him places. (medivan is the name of one that comes to mind in my community) Also, he may have to live in a group home where there is specialized care - there are government run places for that too. Not alot of people with this severe of an injury are able to live in a regular home situation. Im sorry for his injury, stick with him. He will need lots of support
