Transport Medical any medical air transport pilots or anyone with info?
I am currently an emt and am thinking of going to school to become a pilot on a helicopter for emergency medical transport. anyone suggestions, info, opinions, or anything else is greatly appreciated. thanks!
Yea I'm looking to get into that too, but the hours and experience needed is IMMENSE.
It's usually only after years and years of flying you get enough to get a job like that.
Besides what the requirements are, because I think it's a very desireable job, you are competing with everybody for it.
My plan is to just get my license and fly till i turn blue in the face, and then go from there xD
Good luck to you though, I don't mean to discourage so don't take this the wrong way. I'm just speaking from what I have read/heard.
For courses in Adult Medical Emergencies.EMPACT (Emergency Medical Patients: Assessment, Care & Transport) offers a practical approach to common medical emergencies. Formerly published as AMLS (Advanced Medical Life Support), EMPACT is updated and revised to conform to the 2010 American Heart Association guidelines. Providing foundational chapters on assessment, critical thinking/decision making, and the difficult airway, the text moves on to cover common medical complaints, such as shock/hypoperfusion, dyspnea, chest discomfort or pain, and more. Presenting a realistic approach to the care of the patient, each chapter moves from assessment- and complaint-based primary assessment (identifying and controlling immediate life threats) to field diagnosis and management of immediately treatable underlying diseases. Intended for students with paramedic or other advanced-level training; a familiarity with anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology; and an overall understanding of the nature of medical emergencies.

Welcome to the new gold standard in critical care transport training. Published in conjunction with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Critical Care Transport offers cutting edge content relevant to any healthcare provider training in critical care transport. Like no other textbook in this market, Critical Care Transport thoroughly prepares medical professionals to function as competent members of a critical care team by covering the material that everyone—paramedics, nurses, physicians, and specialty crew—needs to know to operate effectively in the prehospital critical care environment. This book meets the curricula of major critical care training programs, including University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). It covers both ground and flight transport, and meets the objectives of critical care transport certification exams such as the Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C) exam administered by the Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification. Content includes information specific to prehospital critical care transport, such as flight physiology, lab analysis, hemodynamic monitoring, and specialized devices such as the intra-aortic balloon pump. Standard topics such as airway management, trauma, and pharmacology are covered in the context of critical care. Chapters have been authored by leading critical care professionals across the country and represent the most current, state-of-the-art information on management of critical care patients.

How long will it take for TC to send me my aviation medical certificate?
I sucessfully completed my aviation medical examination 3 weeks ago and I still haven't been issued my certificate. The wait has caused me to pass up my last chance to fly my first solo until august. (TC=Transport Canada, but FAA might be the same story). HOw long does it take??
3 weeks is nothing. Wait the better part of a month. This is why you need to get medicals done ASAP.
Also, if you have time constraints like that (next time to solo in two months) you are going to have a long, expensive road to getting a license. You should be flying twice a week, not once a month.
