cat gave birth what to do now?
my cat gave birth last night on my bedroom floor not in her bed.i tried to transfer the kittens and her into the bed.but my cat got distressed and lifted the cats back under the bed.i dont know when to move them.also my cat hasnt left the kittens for food or water or toilet.any tips would be helpful thanks
If they all seem to be fine (breathing well on their own, nursing, being accepted by the mum), you shouldn't have to do much; your mum-cat will know what to do. You should have a nesting box prepared, which can be a not too deep (sides should be low enough for her to go in and out of, but not too low so kittens can get out) cardboard box, lined with old towels, and big enough for her to stretch out comfortably, while nursing. She will clean them, feed them, etc., and stimulate them to go to the bathroom (and lick it away--I know--yuck! but that's a mother cat's job! : ) ) and what's important for you should look for are any signs that she might be rejecting one or more of the kittens and NOT attending to them properly. If there are any which are smaller than the rest, make sure they can get in there to nurse, and don't get constantly pushed out of the way. Also, watch your mum-cat and make sure that she's not too exhausted to take proper care of her babies, because, then, you'll have to help. Also, when they were born, there should have been one placenta delivered, per kitten. That's important to observe (I realize this happened quite a few hours ago), to make sure your mum-cat is alright, health-wise, and there's nothing left inside to make her sick or get an infection. Watch her for any signs of illness, including extreme fatigue, labored breathing, and foul-smelling vaginal discharge. Make sure to provide her with fresh food and water, nearby her nesting box (which should be in a dimly lit, quiet area of the house, out of any drafts), and a litterbox in the same room, but NOT next to the food. She should be eating high quality kitten food while she's nursing. I would recommend wet (canned) food, (if she's only getting dry right now) because this will provide extra moisture, which she will need to replenish more often, because she's nursing. If you have any other animals in the house (especially unneutered male cats), do NOT let them near her or the kittens.
Your mum-cat will go back into heat pretty quickly, so if you do have any unneutered males in the house (get them fixed), you have to be very careful that they don't get together. As soon as the kittens are between 8-12 wks. old, (or are completely weaned), have her spayed, so she's not in danger of having any more litters.
Also, you can work on finding good homes for the babies, and decide if you're going to keep any (or all?!) : )
If you feel anything doesn't look right (physically) with the babies or the mum-cat, take them to the vet immediately. If they're all okay (I hope), you should bring them all to the vet to be checked over, as soon as they're a little older, anyway.

How much lifting can I do while pregnant?
With my job, I have to manually transfer people who can't walk for baths, using the toilet etc. I'm worried. Thanks for any help!
My doc said no more than 30 lbs too. But if you do happen to lift over that much, dont be too stressed about it--they say that's mostly for protection for the moms, not cause it'll hurt the baby. It's much easier during pregnancy to overstrain your back.
