i have a disability and use a wheelchair and recently decided i'd like to get into the wheelchair building business, ive seen other wheelchair users do it so it can be done, but i have no skills in that area yet and being 35 im kind of running out of time i think,
just trying to think of other skills id need, as well as the above, parts of a chair would be metal (usually aluminium or titanium these days, ive seen some with carbon fibre parts) rubber, plastics, cloth for the seating. paint, and probably a whole bunch of other stuff ive not thought of
but i want to do this!, im amazed at some of the stuff out there these days
Enroll in a welding class at your local community college. Aluminum is not too difficult you just have to keep everything super clean and not cross contaminate anything with other metals. Titanium is tricky because it needs to have a back flow of shielding gas on the backside of the weld as well as the front.
Regardless it would be cheapest to take a course where someone with experience can spend time with you and give you personal insight on how to improve your welding. It all just takes practice, its nothing voodoo I am not sure if you have the ability to use your feet but TIG welding requires the use of a remote (usually foot activated) to control the amperage. There are however torch mounted (use your hand) controls that would work if you cannot use your feet.

Would like to mount speakers to ultralight titanium wheelchair any ideas?
its an ultralight titanium chair so it doesnt weight much. this gives me more to work with as far as adding weight. ive only got so much realestate to work with however for the placement so size is critical smaller the better but i dont want to sacrifice to much in sound quality. it should be a method with decent to excellent bass so a subwoofer with good sound. ive looked into an all in one way of doing it but havent found yet one that looks like it will mount where it needs to go below the solid carbon fiber seat bottom. if you know of one that may work let me know. otherwise i guess ill have to mount a sub under and the smaller high speakers out the sides. it would be cool if i could have the option to add a syncronized led light kit to it. i suppose one of those square twelve volt batteries that are used to power things like lanterns and such would be a good choice for power unless somebody can thing of anything else. thanks for your time!!!!! -Weelz
