Tilt Actuator
how do you repair the tilt steering on a1985 f-250 ford?
the starting actuator broke in the steering collum and i have removed the pivot pins on the tilt,but i dont know how to pull it apart enough to install the new actuator.
The best way to do this is to go to a junkyard and get another one. You can't just buy the parts for it from a part store. Is it the type that uses the turn signal lever or does it have a seperate lever? Just be sure that the one you get from the yard is the same. You can change the ignition switch by turning the key backward and pressing a pin into the tiny hole under the ignition. It will turn even further back and come straight out so you can put your original key socket in. Otherwise, you can go to a locksmith and he can cut a key that fits the door on the top and the bottom can fit the new ignition socket.

what is a dynamic load?
im using a linear actuator as a tilting mechanism, and the load is 80kg over a small plate. Ive assume the load as a distributed over a beam and calculated that the force require is about 900N.
When i looked at linear actuators they often rate their product by dynamic load. So if i have an actuator that can provide a 1.1kN, it should be allright?
Can anyone suggest a good website to explain the terms in the manufacture's spec sheet?
Dynamic load is the load caused as a consequence of motion eg acceleration or stopping. Static load rating is the motionless "dead load". Dynamic is usually higher than static.
Depending on duty, you do not appear to have much capacity in reserve, which might compromise response speed and/or life of the device
