I think I broke the chain saw? It worked once (with some gray smoke) and then?
it shut down after two cuts into the stump (above ground). I put more gas/oil mix and more bar oil in and now the rope is hard to pull and it won't start? I think when the rope was hard to pull on the tiller/cultivator they said that you can't tip it or the oil will get into the throttle or something? Any ideas what went wrong?
I didn't want to buy a special container and diesel fuel ...will the gasoline and 50:1 oil mix work in the spark plug hole? I put that in there and screwed back in the spark plug..to leave in for 2 days, then will drain it and dry well??I bought a new spark plug that will replace the old one afterwards...
the lawnmower repair shop near me says they don't fix chain saws for some unknown reason...

That tells me that it must of locked up and that means your mix was not strong enough with oil.
I use 8 oz of 2 cyl mix to a gallon of gas. You can't go wrong here even with a chainsaw. The only lube it gets in that piston is i that gas and oil mix and if it gets weak it will lock up.
Now if your lucky, you can take oput the spark plug and pout oil in the hole and set it up where it won't run out. Then let it set over night.
Then the next day pour it out and take the cover off to the fly wheel. Take a screw driver between the fin and gently put pressure and turn it and rock it back and forth to see if that piston frees up. if it does, you might get lucky.
Put it back together and mix your fuel like I said earlier and crank it up. If it runs good, your in luck if not you may have damaged the piston and cylinder.

How do I Intall Side Console Steering on a Tiller Boat?
I have a 14 tracker v 14 tiller boat. it is an early 90s pretty much aluminum fishing boat, no interior or custom floor. I want to eventually install a side console and cable steering w/ a steeing wheel and throttle controlls. What i want to know is if the steering systems that are possibly applicable to my situation, if they are dependent upon the acutal make and model of the outboard? What kind of kits would be required? The motor I have is a early 90's mercury 9.9 short shaft outboard motor. I know i can get the throttle controlls but i am not sure how to go about configuring this type of set up. Do you think i can find a pre built console or would it be best if i fabricated my own?
Yes there are "generic" alum consoles available that will bolt into your boat and provide a mounting base for steering and throttle/shift etc. Most major outboards have a "remote control" kit, and standard steering wheel and cables will fit. You might save a few hundred by fabricating one your self. Check Monark Boats in Arkansas for availability of a factory built one.
