Thick Foam Seat Reuse: Can you think of a use for...?
My workplace throws away soft foam sheets (like seat cushion foam) about 1" thick and 2 feet by three feet. I understand they are looking for a recycler to take them but I'd really like to see them reused instead. Thus far I've only used a few for drawer liners for socket wrenches and chisels and the like. Any ideas?
How many of these foam sheets they have to get rid of really would help the answering process.
I saw that they use foam pieces in gymnastic training facilities around different apparatuses to prevent injuries from hard falls. Don't know if you've got a gymnastic center around you, but you could try donating them there?

I am currently making new leather seats for an old Supra. Any suggestions for a good sewing machine to use?
These are very thick seats, very detailed, with foam attached to the back. We are willing to purchase a machine as we are unable to find someone to do the work so now we are looking for a machine that can preform straight acurate stitching.
It is the needle that makes the biggest difference. A industrial machine will have the horsepower, but you need a wing needle to sew on leather. This is a specialty needle and it is not available for some machines.
Before you invest in the machine, check a upholstery shop , ask if they are able to sew on leather. They already have the industrial machines, and may be able to do the work.
