How much does it cost to "re-carpet" the stairs and upstairs of a 10 year old home?
Hello,
My wife and I are trying to determine how much it will cost to get our upstairs floor and stairs carpeted? We're looking at traditional plush, soft carpet (not Berber) with a premium pad (does that help?). I'm curious as to how much the labor will cost and how much an above average carpet and premium pad will cost for about 1,000 to 1,200 square feet (about the size of our upstairs area with stairs). Thanks much!
Your average price for a mid range carpet and a pad that will hold the warranty of that carpet will be in the 3/3.5$ a s/f installed range. You can get cheap and more expensive because it does vary a bit, but this will get you in the ballpark.
Standard pad that will work with this is a 5 1/2 to 6# (7/16 ") thick pad. And yes padding makes all the difference in the life of the carpet.
Up grades beyond that adds stiffness to the carpet and takes away the "soft " feel. Although 8# pad will work great too and I can t tell the difference from a 6 to an 8" pad.
There are other types of pad that may be called premium pad, some are legitimate some not, it can be a game.
This price will not include rip out and disposal and any floor prep if needed.Rip out and disposal can be negotiated in the price if you discuss it. Not so in big box stores but in your local mom and pop stores .
In reality I would budget 4$ a s/f . And if its not all used great but it will also give you a cushion if you fall in love with a nice carpet.

What part of body does stairs master machines do for you?
The machine with two foot steps and also the one you use it like climbing stairs, what part of body they help to tune up... Thank you.

The stairmaster helps tone EVERYTHING! There are two main focus groups when exercising: cardiovascular and muscle shaping. Smooth tissue (like heart and lungs) benefit from the stairmaster via the effort that you must put out to continue stepping for long periods of time (at least 30mins). As you exert energy from cells, they must get new fuel (oxygen) from the blood stream, which means that your heart must pump harder/faster and your lungs must bring in healthy air that contains oxygen. As these intake procedures occur, the cells that are burning fuel are putting out carbox dioxide. The more that you exercise your cardiovascular system, the more efficient your body becomes at removing the CO2 and replacing it with Oxygen.
The other focus of exercise is muscle shape. The stairmaster works the glutes, calves, hamstrings, quads, and depending on how you attempt the stairmaster, it can also be beneficial to other parts of the body (if you swing your arms like curls while you're walking). Good luck!
