How do I teach a 5.5 month old to use a sippy cup?
Our doctor said that now would be a good time to introduce the sippy cup and we found a age appropriate cup. It has been a week and in no way the cup is considered to be a drinking object by my baby, it’s a great toy that mommy keeps putting in her mouth and makes an amusing sound when thrown around.
I have shown her how to drink from it and even removed the spill protector and she got all wet jus so that she would see that there is something in the cup she needs to take out.
How do I teach her to drink from it?
I understand that she will not learn in one day. But how do I teach her? Or is she going to click one day and realize what it is for?
My son never took a bottle. He either nursed or used a sippy cup. I introduced the cup at 3 months. In between feedings I would give him water with the cup. When he started on baby food I would always have a sippy cup with water and gently tip some into his mouth a few times while he was eating. Sometimes I would give him the cup with very little water in it for him to experiment with. Eventually, he figured it all out and drank out of it normally but still liked to play with it and make a mess. Dont worry, she'll get the hang of it before you know it.

Don't Spill Your Drink - Invention Review - The Cup Caddie
My 14 month old won't drink from a cup on his own, loves his bottle.?
My son is almost 14 months. He is an extremely picky eater, and, he was slow to hold his bottle on his own. Now he doesn't really get the whole concept of holding the sippy cup full of milk, etc. I should say that he will sip water form a non spill sippy cup, but when I offer him milk etc at a meal, he pushes it away. When he does try it, he just waves it all over the place, and you can see where I'm going from here. Milk all over, except his tummy. His doctor wanted him off the bottle at 12 months. So I am sure I will get scolded at his 15 month check up. Any suggestions?? I'm a first time mom.
i don't remember exactly where i bought my sippy cup.walmart or the dollar store..but its the brand :NUBY:..ive spent over 50$ on sippy cups trying to find one that my daughter will take..it has a sippy cup shape and the part they drink out of is square..and its pretty much like a bottle..rubber soft texture..and once she got used to it id throw in a hard topped sippy..my daughter will be 2 in december..i know what ur going through..i hope this will behelpfull good luck:)
