My grandma is 96. My aunt is her medical power of attorney, and gets mad at men when I visit (twice a year) because I pretty much let my grandma do whatever she wants. Grandma is in complete control of her mental facilities, but her health is failing, and she needs one of those scooters to get around.
She hasn't been out of the assisted living facility for 3 months, and today she wanted to go to lunch, the book store and the grocery store. We were out for about 3 hours, and I mentioned that she should probably go home and take a nap, and I would go back to the hotel until dinner. She said she was fine.
When we got back to her room, she looked tired, so I told her I was tired and wanted to go back to the hotel. Like I said, she's still got her mind, so she saw right through what I was doing.
We are like best friends, so she wants to spend as much time together as possible when I'm here. Now I feel guilty that I lied to her, even though it's in her best interest. Am I wrong?
