HELP !! grade 8 science hwk !!?

what advantage is there in having digestion take place in a tube like structure rather than a sac like structure?

I don't understand this at ALL.
can anyone help ?!

please and thanks :)

umm...my guess would be that digestion taking place in a tube like structure would be easier due to it being stacked and all going the same direction, rather than in a sac like structure you would have it coming from numerous directions making it perhaps take more time.? i dont know..thats my guess :)

Yolk Sac

Yolk Sac

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The yolk sac is a membranous sac attached to an embryo, providing early nourishment in the form of yolk in bony fishes, sharks, reptiles, birds, and primitive mammals. It functions as the developmental circulatory system of the human embryo, before internal circulation begins. It is the first element seen in the gestational sac during pregnancy, usually at 5 weeks gestation. It is a critical landmark, identifying a true gestation sac. It is reliably seen early in human pregnancy using ultrasound. The yolk sac is situated on the ventral aspect of the embryo; it is lined by extraembyronic endoderm, outside of which is a layer of extraembryonic mesenchyme, derived from the mesoderm. Sac River

Sac River

$70.1

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Sac River is a river in southwest Missouri. It is 107 miles (172 km) long, with headwaters in Lawrence and Greene counties; the headweaters join near Greenfield, then flow north through the Ozarks, to the Osage River, ending just above Osceola, Missouri in Truman Reservoir. Large portions of the Sac River and the Little Sac River are inundated by Stockton Lake. The Big Eddy Site, an archaeological dig, is along the Sac River within Cedar County. Eleven feet of river sediment at the site provides a stratigraphy that suggests more than 10,000 years of nearly constant occupation by American Indians, potentially predating the Clovis culture and contributing to the knowledge of the Dalton and San Patrice cultures. I need help with these questions. I'M DESPERATE!! PLEEEASE.?

I'm working on my science homework so please answer the best that you possibly can pleeease! Or whatever knowledge you might have on the subject please!

Question #1.
In the fetuses of egg-laying mammals, the urethra empties into a sac in which urines is stored. Of what advantage is this?

Question #2.
In mammals that bear their young alive the fetus does not need a storage sac because it does not form urine: why do you suppose this is so?

Thanks for helping me out.

I suspect the first one is because it can be used as an insulator to keep the egg temperature stable...

In the second, I know for sure it's because the waste products are taken away in the blood stream via the umbilical cord and passed out the body through the mother's system. This is why they don't produce urine, they don't need to do that.

Did that make sense? Same way the mother gives nutrients through the umbilical cord, she also takes away the waste products of the fetus by the same route and expels it with her own.
