Stallion to older and spunky..hasn't been riden in years?
Our stallion is an eqyptian arabian with gorgeous black and roan colorings. I would love to take him out and show him off but he hasn't been riden in over three years. I am not a spring chicken anymore and don't want to get hurt flying off his back. I am usually a good and confidant rider but he is squirly. Even though he is a smaller horse, I need some feed back on if I should start with lunging him first or just go for the gusto?
I am not an old person, and I don't want to go to actual horse shows, Im too old for that, but show him off as in, here is my horse!
l breed arabs and they never seem to forget their training [most anyway] one mare wasn't ridden for 12 years but still managed a very good dressage test when for a bet l let a friend ride her
most arabs will look after their riders, and three years is not that long, try lunging that will give you an idea of how much he remembers and take the edge off, expect him to be full of it..well he is going to go out after three years and see what is out there, most arabs are very nosey
best of all enjoy..mine get really upset if the rider comes off, and help you get back on..so you won't have to walk home!
reschooling him will probally bore him silly, he would much rather go for a hack
