Not knowing the hole story, I am sure a pitless elevator could be designed.
I have seen home made pitless freight elevators .
They are attached to the building structure.
Chain driven.
No holes in the floor, the walking surface just comes down and sits on the concrete floor.
You could incorporate this design into your project.

Sims 2 elevator issues?

I recently got Sims 2 Open for Business, which has the elevator option. So I tried making a residential house with an elevator (instead of stairs), but the only thing the Sim does when I click on it, is sexual stuff (woohoo and try for baby). I've tried to build an elevator on the second floor above the first one but it doesn't work. HELP!!!
