noise in trans/clutch area.1991 mitsu 3000 gt fwd,122,000 miles..the chutch is fresh,,centerforce duel frictin
I let my car warm up for about 5 min,then i hear a squal/scrapping noise coming from clutch area.i was told if i push in clutch and it goes away its the input shaft bearring in gear box?but i have this noise when i push in clutch and give a little gas.i goes away after i drive for a little while.i had a new clutch release fork and release bearing put in last year,the noise started about a month after that was done.but of corse the shop says its in the gear box so they don't have to do warrenty work for free,,,can you shed any light on this subjeck?thanks mike
The way you wrote it makes it sound like it started squealing a month after you installed the throwout bearing, which doesn't obviously have much to do with a clutch replacement the next year, or any responsibility by the shop.
Throwout bearing or input, it probably won't stop until it's tracked down and replaced. I would double check the adjustment to make sure the arm isn't riding the bearing with any pressure - also check the pedal bushings for wear, too, to make sure everything is where it should be.

is this my release bearing?
ok i just did a swap on my honda civic and it was working fine for a day then i started to hearing a noise from the transmission when i depressed the clutch. When i press the clutch it goes away is that my release bearing? i didnt put a new one in, the old one look still good. what else could it be ? i also noticed that my master cylender that push's the fork that pushes the release bearing is leaking a tiny bit but i still see it moving back and forth when i press the clutch. Anyone have any ideas ?
Yeah, it's the throw out bearing.
