Position Rising
How do I position my home weathervane?
I feel stupid, I positioned my weathervane E. last nov. in the direction of the sun rising. but now do to the earth moving, The sun is rising in a different place. My question is, how do I face the E,S,N,W part of my weather vane?
You could use a compass but that'll give you the magnetic directions as opposed to the true directions. Magnetic deviation varies with location. Call the airport and ask for the current mag deviation (it changes from year to year). You could also find this out on the web. Another way is to find Polaris, the north star. If you find Ursa Minor, the LIttle Bear, the last two stars in the "handle" with point directly at Polaris. Polaris, by the way, is not an especially bright star but it's only a half-degree off the north geographic pole.

Rising Trot Riding Position please critique
Anyone applying for actuarial analyst position?
I'm just curious if there's a big competition for those types of positions. Given the rise in unemployment lately, I know that its increasingly competitive out in the job market. I just wanted to see if the same is true in this type of position.
Although the rise in unemployment has gone up, overall I think actuaries are in good shape simply because assessing risk is a valuable skill - not just in the financial or insurance industries where they are common but in other fields or organizations.
