Is the New Delhi Railway Station accessible for the elderly/wheelchair?
How do the elderly people go from Platform no. 1 to, say, Platform no. 6 or 12? My memory is that of lots and lots of stairs, and I can't see me taking my mother over those stairs!
I'm now considering going to Dehradun/Mussouri in May from Delhi with my mother. The only airline - Deccan - I have read horrible reports about them, so I started to consider trains - but this platform problem my be a barrier.
I could rent a car, I suppose, but it seems like a very long drive (6-9 hours, it seems).
Any advice?
How does the wheelchair go to Platform 10? I hope not bouncing over the railway lines! I remember there used to be stairs only.
Let's not talk about service of Indian railways. We all know how best they are. ON papers and also for display- there is wheel chair available but I am VERY SURE- you will be paying for those men who will be lifting the patient manually.
It is not safe rather time consuming, harassment to both elder and escort.
SUGGESTION: Road travel is better- safer and less tiring travel for her.
