Why can't pulmonary embolism patient take aspirin or any ibuprofen drugs?
I believe aspirin is an anticoagulant. I thought the problem with pulmonary embolism is blood clots traveling to the lungs. So wouldn't the priority here is to dissolve that clot? Why then the treatment is to not take aspirin, an anticoagulant?
One of the key points of anticoagulation therapy is patient SHOULD NOT take drugs containing aspiring (Iggy, Medical Surgical Nursing)
I'm confused
Since PE patients are typically medicated with anticoagulants such as Heparin, or Warfarin. Aspirin or other drugs with an anticoagulant effect should be avoided as they could precipitate bleeding if taken in combination with these other anticoagulants.

The Final Patient - Fullscreen $9.99 When a retired physician performs a miraculous feat that catches the attention of two curious medical students, their attempts to discover the secret behind the doctor's unique abilities yields a horrifying discovery. A small boy has become trapped beneath a five-ton tractor. Though the child faces almost certain death, his life is mercifully spared when elderly doctor Daniel Green (Bill Cobbs) somehow manages to lift the massive vehicle off of the boy with ease. How could a mere mortal accomplish such an amazing feat? Realizing that it would take much more than mere adrenaline to move such a foreboding piece of farm equipment, two medical students who happened to be passing through town at the time of the accident travel to Dr. Green's isolated farmhouse to speak with the celebrated hero firsthand. It seems that as the reclusive doctor advanced in years, his fear of death drove him on a desperate search for the fountain of youth. Despite the fact that he was successful in unlocking the key to immortality, Dr. Green's remarkable discovery has come at a horrifying cost. Now, as night falls over the countryside, these two curious medical students are about to discover just how unwise it can be to meddle with Mother Nature. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |

Final Patient/Salem Witch Trials - $12.99 Includes:Salem Witch Trials (2003) The Final Patient (2005) Salem Witch Trials In the tradition of Arthur Miller's McCarthy-era play The Crucible, this two-part TV dramatization of the Salem Witch Trials was heavily influenced by the present-day political scene. Rev. Parris (Henry Czerny), spiritual leader of Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692, needs a unifying issue to end the intramural squabbling between the town's Puritans. When the daughters of Ann and Thomas Putnam (Kirstie Alley and Jay O. Sanders) begin behaving in a bizarre, disruptive fashion, Parris knows that he has found something that can be transformed into a target of unilateral hatred for his flock. Before long, the Putnam girls and the family's servant Titubea (Gloria Reuben) have been labeled as witches, and eventually the hysteria spreads throughout the town, with anyone who doesn't agree with the status quo running the risk of public ostracism, and ultimately, execution for witchcraft (the eventual fate of 20 unfortunates). The climax is devoted to the notorious witch trials, staged at the behest of the Massachusetts colony's politically ambitious deputy governor (Peter Ustinov). Shirley MacLaine makes a rare TV appearance as the ill-fated Rebecca Nurse. Salem Witch Trials was presented by CBS on March 2 and 4, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi The Final Patient When a retired physician performs a miraculous feat that catches the attention of two curious medical students, their attempts to discover the secret behind the doctor's unique abilities yields a horrifying discovery.
