Patient Transfer Lift I've been a nurse for 30 years, but I have had two hip surgeries for hip replacement.?
I am having trouble getting a job where I can sit down if I need to which is what my doctor recommends. I have been denied disability benefits, because I can still walk, just can't stay on my feet for long periods or lift/transfer patients. I only have an associate RN degree. I would like to go back to school and get a bachelors degree in either nursing or education, but I can't afford it right now. I am my only source of income. Any suggestions.

Which of these CNA jobs would require the least lifting?
I am now a CNA for skilled nursing facility, with the eventual goal of working as a hospital RN (don't know what specialty, but I suppose I would start in Med-Surg). I have 15-18 patients a night, about 3/4 of which are in a lift and rather heavy. I love being a CNA, but would like something easier on my back. I work for a big umbrella company that has lots of room for transfer and promotion, so I am looking at other positions on my current employer's website. Which of these openings would likely include less lifting?
1. Medical-Surgical
2. Pre-operative care
3. Medical Renal
4. "Joint Camp"- This is a position in a seperate joint replacement building. Several people are scheduled for surgery in the same time period, and go through recovery and therapy together.
I'm a CNA too, so I totally understand! My guess would be Pre-Operative. What a lot of people don't understand is, even if you have a lift, it requires 2 people. There isn't always another CNA around to help you.
