I wouldn't make your own sling....it could be dangerous as it hasn't been safety tested.
I have been looking for patterns for the rest as well....I hope someone knows where the free patterns are

i just got my padded sling in the mail today (the slingEzee) and i think it might be too small or im doing something wrong. my baby is only three weeks old and i cant really fit her in the sling like they show on the video. i cant figure out what im doing wrong because the sling should be the right size. how can i tell if its too small or if im just doing something wrong? on the video it said if it was too small it would come up under your armpit when you put it on but mine hits right at my waste like its suppose to. i am at the larger end of the sizing since i just had my baby and plan on losing weight but im still well within the range.
Are they using a pillow in the pictures? I had a receiving blanket in the sling behind our babies to prop them up a bit. They sell sling pillows but they are a waste of money.
It sounds like it hits you where it should, it should always meet at your midsection.
Is there a website? I loved my non-ring slings best- easy to figure out and wear. I am a sling addict!
