Outside Scooter General advice for a first time buyer of a scooter/ moped?
I've never actually ridden one, but ever since I decided I would get one to start riding to work (less than a mile away, all residential roads <30 mph), I cant stop thinking about it! Any brands to avoid? Is new or used the best route? What's a "good deal?" Is it ok to leave it parked outside? I'm 6'2" and 205 pounds- am I too big? Any other tips? THANKS!
I've had a variety of scooters and motorcycles. Scooters really are the most economical choice, and get the best mileage. If you can, take the MSF safety class. They will teach you basic riding skills, and they provide all the equipment. Once you're done with the class, you will have your full motorcycle endorsement, and can get whatever you want. Anything 250cc or smaller will get terrific mileage. I prefer scooters for commuting, as they are belt driven and work better in the rain (no chain to rust). I'd try a Yamaha Vino 125. It's a little bigger, and should be more comfortable for you than most of the 50cc ones. As far as parking outside, scooters tend to be stolen, so you need to lock it up.
Every day, when Lucy takes Scooter for a walk, he hopes to go around the corner to see what is there, but when he finally gets his chance to explore on his own, he learns that he is not ready to go around the corner alone.

Does anyone have any experience in ordering scooters from outside the US?
I live in the US and the scooter I want seems to only be available in Australia and Europe. Does anyone know how this is done?
Hi, it all depends how the seller wishes to send the scooter, make sure the seller is trusted eg if it is through ebay just check his feedback, also make sure insurance is included in postage and also request a tracking number from the seller.
If you have to arrange your own postage,
There is loads of motorcycle courier companys on google just get some quotes on there websites.
