Motorized Wheel Chair
who's at fault here.. the guest or us?
A guest tonight in the hotel I work at, was in his motorized chair, he was going around the corner of the side walk and he went down what he though was a ramp for wheel chairs when in fact it was large steps. he said it was too dark to see, can't agree or disagree with him about that,, I see it one way, he see's it another..
it is bright out there, but he said he was hungry and when that happens he eyes get fuzzy.. he had diabetes.
who is at fault.. the guest for not paying enough attention or the hotel for not having a sign out there saying to watch your step, stairs, or for not having brighter lights..
remember, there are lights, but the guest said they are not bright enough..
This is the kind of thing he will win, even if it;s not right. We had a customer at the bank where I worked, walk outside the door. When my manager looked, the lady was on the ground, just off the curb. she had fallen and said she was hurt. long story short, she sued and won, even though another customer SAID he saw her sit down on the ground of her own accord.. The thing is, there are not signs posted on every curb on every road and in every parking lot in the world. it's one of those things you just know to look for. But since it was on our property, we were held responsible. right? no. But it happens every day.

I'm adding a handicapped ramp w/ a deck to my house for my parents will that increase my property tax?
in order to build the handicapped ramp to code there will be a section for turning around and that will have a deck area large enough for a motorized scooter or wheel chair to move around. The permits list the project as a handicapped ramp
Property taxes are based on assessed values of properties. In the extreme majority of cases, making a home handicap access ramp will not increase the value of the property. It might actually decrease the value due to the very limited market demand for such features, unless you are in an area with a large percentage of elderly / handicapped population such as a florida retirement community.
