Mobility Wheel Chair
Future needs for a progeria sufferer. please Help?
My case study is on progeria. I have to write up some of the future needs my case study, Helen will need. This is what i have so far..
Very few Progeria sufferers live past the age of 13. Until then Helen will need many factors to care for her future needs. As Helen gets older her mobility will become a lot harder for her to deal with alone, she will have to see physiotherapists regularly and may even be put into a wheel chair. Emotionally Helen will be scared or may even feel alone with her condition. Counselling will be a big part to play in Helens life as she grows older. Helen will be learning new things everyday; she is a bright young girl who enjoys learning new things. Helen may find it difficult to make friends, this should be dealt with by her social worker. Her social worker should be able to help her with her social needs.
How can i extend on this? I know this may be seen as cheating but i'm just asking for some idea's. I'm so stuck!. Thanks.
Without helping you out too much....
Considerations regarding her medical health as she will be experiencing many teenage/mid-life/old age changes:
Her GP for medication and monitoring
halth visitor if she is still very young
endocrinologist
cardiologist
bone specialist
a variety of surgeons
occupational therapist
child psychiatrist
She would also need support at school and don't forget that her family also need support - coping with her care and their concerns for Helen. In a nutshell, she requires a multidisciplinary approach.
Good luck!

The Contexts of Social Mobility: Ideology and Theory
$49.34
This book contains a major statement by one of Americas most preeminent sociologists on what remains an important problem in American history and social analysis: the nature and extent of movement within American society from one status to another. The most important images of mobility involve selfimprovement by changing location (going to the frontier, coming to the big city), and by changing social class (secondgeneration immigrants). Almost all sociological and historical analysis has been limited to these themes. Strauss extends the concept to a wide range of ideologies, institutional contexts, and social movements; his analysis is based on a formal theory of status passage and develops a partial theory of mobility. Strauss addresses a theme that underscores much of one strand of his work: the changing articulation of individuals with their social structure and institutions. The book follows on from the theoretical presuppositions of Discovery of Grounded Theory and the formal theory presented in Status Passage. Strauss was continually concerned with American social and intellectual life in its historical and contemporary manifestations. No one else has looked at the important phenomenon of mobility in this broad a context and from this point of view. The book remains important to those concerned with the social history of America and with problems of social change. Anselm Strauss (19161996) was professor of sociology and chair of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago where he also taught. He was a pioneer in bridging the gap between theory and data in sociology. Joseph Gusfield is Emeritus Professor in Sociology at University of California, San Diego. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago and taught there, at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, at the University of Illinois before going to UCSD. Among his major

DLA question?
my wife has sevier arthoritas.she applied for dla and got the lowest componant for living alowance. but her biggest problem
is walking she cant walk . so we appeald. wich the hearing was today and we were appeling for second componant rate cos i have to care for her, and also the mobility award. wel we wer turned down flat evan though she was in weel chair and can not walk fare in house without struggling. i was also at th job center and my and the guy who signs me on at the desk where i sign job seekers evan said that its not rite. they based everything on how she was last year when she was turned down for dla she didnt have a wheel chair then cos we didnt know how to get one. anyway my question is would it be worth apealing and would it be worth asking dla to review her currant claim considering she`s already on the dla with the the lowest componant. thanks hope my spelling makes sence,
The appeal that you went to is based on the information that was at the time you first put the application in not on any changes since the application. I was advised when my renewal was refused to appeal, which was then turned down also. I then put a second application in whilst my renewal was sent to the chairman to request the leave to appeal, which only will be accepted on an error in law.
I was also told that if your condition had got worse since the first application to put a second one in. I would advise you to speak to the DLA and tell them that your wife's condition has got worse since your application and see what they advise you to do with her already receiving DLA.
When I was receiving DLA, my condition did get worse so I rang them, they sent me a new form and told me to write on the answers 'as previous claim' and just to put the new information on the questions that were relevant.
It would be worth you looking on the yourable.com website, they advise on these matters.
