Medicare Medicaid

Obama wants to help pay for his health care overhaul by slowing Medicare and Medicaid spending?
Aren't Medicare & Medicaid government programs? Isn't that proof that more government programs (like Obama's proposed health care) are just going to be another costly adventure?
never thought of it like that but you are right. lot's of people on y/a are complaining and rightfully so but i wonder how many actually contact their senator and representative.that is the only thing that will do any good

Medicaid $92.4 Medicaid is the United States health program for eligible individuals and families with low incomes and resources. It is a meanstested program that is jointly funded by the states and federal government, and is managed by the states. Among the groups of people served by Medicaid are certain eligible U.S. citizens and resident aliens, including lowincome adults and their children, and people with certain disabilities. Poverty alone does not necessarily qualify an individual for Medicaid. It is estimated that approximately 60 percent of poor Americans are not covered by Medicaid. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical and healthrelated services for people with limited income in the United States. Because of the aging Baby Boomer population, the fastest growing aspect of Medicaid is nursing home coverage. Martinez Discusses Solutions to Medicare and Medicaid Fraud
Is it the Conservative position that no cuts should be made from medicare & medicaid or just not by Obama?
I have seen and heard complaints about President Obama making cuts to medicare and medicaid is wrong and hurting the poor ( I never thought I would hear that). So is it fair to say that cuts to medicare and Medicaid are now off the table for Conservatives along with cuts in defense.
Cut it all....to the bone, if we're going to survive as a nation. Medicare and medicaid have expanded beyond the "poor." "Defense" has also expanded beyond defense. Social Security has expanded beyond it's original intent. In fact, I doubt there's a single federal expenditure that's not overshot it's target. It all must be cut.
