Medical Ramp
Minor accident, is settlement fair?
I live in NC. I was rear ended on an interstate off ramp by a tractor trailer. I had been forced to come to a complete stop because the 5-6 cars ahead of me had stopped. The tractor trailer was going about 7-9mph at the time. I was driving a Ford Explorer. There were only scratches on my bumper from the accident. The guy's insurance company just called to let me know they would pay for me & my 2 children's (5 and 10 year olds) medical bills and give me $150 for the scratches on my car. The medical bills came from going to the doctor to see why we had headaches the following day. Plus my neck hurt so bad I could not turn it without pain and my right eyelid was drooping for some reason. I missed a week out of work due to pain & drowsiness from the muscle relaxants my doc prescribed. Accident was 1-1/2 weeks ago ,Oct.13 2006. I didn't do a police report cause an officer directing traffic in the area said damage to my car was too minor to file. Is $150 + medical bills a fair settlement?
Get a personal injury lawyer. I hate dealing with lawyers but this time the other guy's insurance company is getting over on you. They should at least pay you for missed work as well as pain and suffering, in addition to medical bills and repairs. That may seem frivolous to others, but you know what? You didnt ask to get injured. and since they cant make you feel better, they darn well should compensate you for it!

Bridal Ramp
are there any agencies in jackson, tn. that helps displaced families ?
this familys apartment became flooded and theres a handicapped child involved. the apt. manager offered them another apt., but it is upstairs and doesn't have a handicapped accessible ramp. this child gets daily therapy at school and because of this, it doesn't look like he'll be able to go to school. the family hasn't moved into another apt. in the same unit. the heat doesn't work in the new unit because of a possibe gas leak. they are currently staying with family members . the handicapped child is sleeping on a couch which isn't comfortable to him because he has a curvature in his spine. this child requires special medical attention daily and i fear that these needs aren't going to be met if he doesn't get into a stable environment soon. mind you, all of this happened while he was in the hospital. so if you know of any agencies that can help this family. please contact me.
If the child is handicapped then there is a disability to some degree. Since he is receiving services at school then he has available to him the social workers/counselors. They know of resources to help this family. Also, there is the Red Cross who helps displaced people. Every state has a division of Family Services, so there is help available. The child not going to school legally is not an option, also the city/state has to, by law, provide an education for every student.
