Medical Home Bed
What are your reflections when a loved one in your home is on their death bed and the phone rings incessantly?
I know they are well wishers but the medical community has given up. The man (my Father) is dying. They're giving him 2 months but I'll be surprised if it's more than 2 weeks. Hospice workers will be here 24 hrs. a day. We're doing all we can to make him comfortable.
Every time that phone rings Mom HAS to answer it and she gets emotional again. No sooner than she gets stabilized and actually leans back to life away f/ this pending tragedy ... the phone rings again and she crumbles back to pieces.
I already know my Dad is about to leave ... now I'm worried about my Mom. She's hooked the oxygen back up to her self because she says she needs it.
I suggested we unplug the phone but she says she can't do that.
Mom's disregarding her health by her courtesy to connect.
I could sit by the phone and politely tell the well wishers, "Don't call us, we'll call you" but is that the way to handle this?
Blu, I'm very sorry to hear about your father. Having gone through hospice care in my home, I know how difficult that can be. I know how hard it is to watch our loved ones grieve, but one thing you must realize is that everyone grieves in different ways, and I think that your mom might need to know that there are people out there who are concerned about her right now, even if the phone calls do upset her. I think she's getting more comfort from those phone calls than you might realize. Otherwise, she wouldn't answer every call. I know it's hard to watch her like this, but it might actually make things easier for her after you dad's passing. She will have already grieved and might be better able to handle the end because of this.

Are any of the work at home deals wort it?
I am going to be a 21 yr old single mom to twins in a few months and need some income. I was thinking medical transcpritionist. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on other stay at home ideas?? I'm a nanny right now but I'm afraid I'll be put on bed rest soon. I can't get an office job because no one will hire a pregnant woman, and I don't have much experience anyway. And then returning as a nanny would be difficult if I have to put my 2 sons in day care to watch someone elses kids... any help would be greatly appreciated.
There are families that will hire a nanny with her own kids. I know several nannies that bring their own kids - you just have to find the right family. So, I guess what I'm saying is not to rule out going back to nannying (unless you don't want to) just because you're having your own children. There are families out there who are willing to work with you to bring your children too.
