Med Comfort
My friend's grandpa has CANCER
?!!? what should i say to comfort her!?!?i'm really shocked at how I know someone who knows someone with cancer... I mean like, for my whole life i never really thought cancer would actually be a disease that could affect me or my close relationships/friends.
...how do i comfort her? i feel sorry for her, since her grandpa has
-2 months to live
-didn't tell anyone about it for a year (apparently)
-is mid/early 70's
-stomach cancer
-the tumor is 2 inches in diameter!
-too big to get any sort of treatment other than meds
wut should i say to comfort hr?!?!?!
but the thing is, i dont think she knows i care for her!! trust me im REALLY BAD AT comforting people... i feel bad and all but i just dont know wut to say. :'( !!!!!
Tell her you're available if she wants to talk, and then make sure you ARE available. Let her talk about it as much as she wants to, you don't have to offer advice or say you know how she feels - just listen and offer a shoulder to cry on. She will probably have times of happiness and sadness, do fun things together when she's happy, but don't force it on her.
Ask her if there's anything you can do for her, and then do it - don't complain or make her feel bad for asking.
It isn't easy but anything you do will be very much appreciated by her, and hopefully you'll feel rewarded. Good luck!
