What can a saddle-fitter do?
-I have a quarterhorse and I am in the market for a new english close contact saddle.
-I currently use a Wintec 2000 all purpose with a adjustable tree, that my older sister fit, which works for him..but I tried a M.Toulouse Premia the same size (Med. Wide) and it didn't work.
I would like for a saddle fitter to come but...(this sounds stupid) but what will he be able to do?
-Can he get the saddle I like and adjust it to my horses back..? or does he have to make me a saddle?

It really depends upon the fitter, and what you're willing to do.
Yes, some fitters are also dealers and can custom fit one of *their* saddles for your horse, and sell it to you. I use a girl who took the foam flocking out of my saddle, stuffed the panels with wool, and restuffed it twice after his muscling changed in a year. My horse isn't symmetrical in the least, so his saddle, though an 'off the shelf' model needed to be modified.
If you have a saddle you like, have the fitter come look and see if she can fit it to your horse's back. Remember though: they can only help if the tree fits, or is even a bit too large. The only way to fit a too-small tree is to move to a larger one.

Which kind of medication should I ask my doctor for? Pain meds, sleeping meds or muscle relaxers?
Within 10 minutes of lying down flat I get terrible spasms in my mid-low back. This is whether I am on my back or side. I deal with it by sleeping on my back in an adjustable bed with my head and knees slightly elevated. I do not currently need to use any meds to control the spasms, as it seems to be purely positional.
The trouble is I am taking a 2 week vacation and will not be able to use an adjustable bed. I need something strong enough to let me sleep through the inevitable spasms. Are muscle relaxers going to do the job? I have a feeling that she might offer me those first. Maybe a combination of meds might do the trick?
I cannot use pillows to get the same effect as the adjustable bed, they just slide out and I wake up in spasm anyway. I need to know what to ask for before I go see my doctor.

A good medication to try is called Carisoprodol. It goes by the tradename of "Soma." I think it's a better medication than other muscle relaxers like Cyclobenzaprine (aka Flexeril) because it also has a pain-relieving property. It is pretty sedating, and should help you sleep.
Valium would also be effective, but doctors are becoming increasingly hesitant to prescribe it because it is a controlled substance, and is perceived to be quite addictive.
I don't think painkillers (narcotics) are the way to go because the muscle relaxing properties are variable at best, and the side effect profile is pretty unfavorable.
It might not be a bad idea to ask the doctor for a referral to a Physical Therapist to have a look at your problem.
