Light Threshold Step
Poem, unwavering storm?
Terror hit the waves at sea,
When the sun had gone to bed.
It buffeted the splinters
That lay homeward on its head.
It laughed when all the young men yelled.
And didn’t cease its fire.
It shared a drink with the clouds above,
That rained the world from higher.
The seabed got the worst of it.
The town, a puddle compared.
But the motion itself upon the storm,
Was where the greatest feared.
And all the screams that could have been heard,
If not for the restless wind,
May not even have helped any,
As the tides came in.
But those did stop too, soon enough,
The morning began once more,
And the town awoke to the blinding light,
That diminished the darkness of the night before.
So as the sun rose, like any day,
It passed the house where the rich fisherman dwell,
Illuminating the threshold,
Not stepped till the storm befell.
Within, the old and tired stood up,
From her wait by the phone,
To tell her five young calves
Daddy won’t come home.
I like it...but you need to inject a little more classic or traditional English Vernacular. The mode is set apart from modern settings, and some of the stanzas are almost there. But...I do like where it's going.

It would be a lot of help if you could find some poetic devices 
I m not sure about the "snow" in line 1 being personification like the previous answerer. But Grief in the last stanza certainly is. (Grief has come to visit this house so many times that he wore the threshold out).
Also, this seems to be a christian poem (last line symbol bread and wine, body and blood= christ). whole poem, life sucks, but there is a happy warm house at the end.
