how many balloons would it take to ...?
how many balloons would it take to lift my 7 lb cat about 2-4 ft off the ground. she will be on her harness. i only need her to float for about an hour or so.
maby not an hour. maby just 5-6 min

A 1' diameter balloon would hold about 0.5 cubic feet of helium and produce a lift of approximately 14 grams. http://science.howstuffworks.com/helium2.htm
1 pound = 453.592 37 gram
7 pounds is about 3174.5 grams.
3174.5 divided by 14 = 226.75, rounded up to 267
If you can get 1' diameter balloons which hold 0.5 cubic feet of helium and provide individual lift of 14 grams, 227 balloons would be needed to lift your cat off the ground.
Given the weight of the harness and that all the balloons might not provide the same lift, I would suggest you add another 25 to 50 extra balloons.
Should you decide to try this, have a safety line secured to the cat's harness, with the other end securely attached to something which the balloons can't possibly lift to prevent you losing the cat.

How many feet will they lift me in the harness during the canopy tour 2get a birds eye view of the forest?
It's not usually so much a matter of lifting you in your harness as having the ground fall away under you. Generally you start on a hilltop or ridge and then slide along the cable over a valley, canyon or ravine where the ground might be three or four hundred feet down.
If you really want a birds eye view of the forest you might consider a canopy bridges tour instead of a canopy zipline because the ziplines are pretty fast and you might be too busy screaming to see much as it whizzes by.
