Lift Chair Excellent
Parkinson's Disease Expert Opinion Needed.?
I've lost a lot of muscle mass lately due to Parkinson's disease. I am trying to build back my muscle mass because I was getting too weak to even get out of a chair sometimes. I am lifting weights and trying to eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight (160) per day. In only 4 weeks I have made excellent strength progress.
My problem is that all this protein is "zapping" my Sinemet, which I take every 4 hours.
My question is, how can I eat or drink this much protein without it affecting my Sinemet?
P.S. I am using the BodyRX program by Dr. Connely. I don't care what I look like, I just want strength.
If possible ,take your sinemet an hour before or an hour after a high protein meal and you should be okay. Or you could ask your doctor about trying a dopamine agonist such as Requip instead of Sinemet since it does not seem to be affected by protein like Sinemet. And congratulations on your exercise routine. Sounds like you are making progress. Maintaining muscle tone and strength is so important for someone with Parkinson's.
