Knob Nip
My cat is chewing on anything and everything.?
Recently my cat seems to have a taste for anything he can fit his little jaws around. Paper, plastic, foam, plants, my laptop, the brass knobs on my dresser, and even my hands.
He did nip and bite on my hands before (like if we're playing) but now he has taken to actually, and painfully, chewing on them.
Usually my grandmother feeds him a bowl of wet food mixed with an egg and a bowl of milk every morning, and we leave a bowl of dry food and water on the floor all day. But grandma has been out of town for awhile and we've run out of his wet food, so we just give him dry (since grandma is the one who buys the wet.), which he eats happily. So I figure he's just missing that more varied diet he had.
Am I right? Or is it something else? He never chewed on things before we stopped giving him wet food.
An egg is very fating for a cat why risk for an heart attack? Also you are not supposed to give cats cow milk. Which can upset cat stomach and/or give them the runs.
Its best to stick with dry food, not only its better for his health it will keep his teeth clean. But if you want to add wet food to his diet. NOW and THEN, that is fine
Don't allow the cat the chew on your fingers at all, if he chews on your fingers how do you know he wont chew on a child's finger? firmly say NO and drop him off your lap. He will get the message that if he chews your fingers he wont get the attention he wants.

Day @ the Knob
could this be a bit of ocd or just random anxiety?
i have to check my front door 3 or 4 times before i leave my house...no rituals--just turning the knob and pull to make sure it is locked. it gets worse when my anxiety level is high...I also may have to come back in to check if things are left on or are still plugged in. several times i've turned my car around halfway to work.(.nothing's ever been on..one time i did find my door open at night-got worse then.)
i tried to give myself a "cue" to ease my mind-by placing a magnet a certain way on my door-so i'd see it while driving away and know that I'd checked everything...it worked until I realized I was giving a cue to any potential thieves that I was not home!
so does this sound like the beginning of ocd? and any ideas how to nip it in the bud? thanks for any advice.
Yes, you can turn this around my speaking aloud, coffee pot is off, TV is off, stove is off, door is locked! By speaking of things you feel need checking out loud, you will know and trust that they are off and locked.
