How long will I not be able to walk with a dislocated kneecap? What does not lifting your leg mean?
So I dislocated my kneecap last Saturday. I popped it back in myself; it was really easy. The pain wasn't so bad, but I went to the ER. There, they put an immobilizer on and told me to go to an ortho. I went to the ortho, who said, after looking at x-rays, that nothing was wrong with my bones. However, when I am lying down or sitting and I try to lift my leg from the thigh, it doesn't move. No matter how hard I try. This caused alarm for the doctor, who is making me go for an MRI tomorrow. He told me that it means that one of my muscles mgiht be torn. He was very vague. It was a really weird feeling tryng to lift my leg and having it not move. In the meantime, I am going to school using a wheelchair, and using crutches at my home. Not being able to walk ahas caused major inconvenience and depression in my life. I was wondering if anyone else's situtation was similar.
Also, what does not being able to lift your leg mean?
And how long do you think I have until I can walk again?
You cannot lift your leg because your quad muscle (front of the thigh) has shut down as it usually does with any knee injury, especially one involving the knee cap. Your ortho needs to send you to see a physical therapist to have your knee rehab'd. You should be able to walk as soon as you get your quad muscle to be strong again which could take as little as a few days or a really long time if you don't have anyone show you how to get the strength back.

How do I train my dog to go inside?
Poor baby was adopted four days ago. She went through a lot. So, I take her out at least eight times a day. Yes, I try to watch her bathroom times, but they are never the same. I sit in a lift recliner and by the time the recliner lifts me up (when she leaves the room I try to get to her), she has already done her thing. I put diapers/pads all over the house and she goes everywhere but on them. I am so limited budget. Is there anything online I can get that is cheap but successful at training a dog. She is one year old. She gets more than enough affection. With my health issues, it is better if the little terrier mix can be trained to go inside my home, winters are so bad that I cannot get out the door with my wheelchair at times.
I don't know how practical this will be for you, but ideally, keep her on a leash for a few days. Then you can tell her "No" when she tries to go potty in the wrong place, and maneuver her to the closest pad, then praise her for going there. Being on leash will also get her used to staying close to you. You should also practice Come with her while you have her on the leash, so she gets used to coming to you when you call her, EVERY time.
