How to get a job in tourism industry... in a hotel or resort....?
Hi,
Although am an IT graduate but I always desired a career in tourism industry.
I want to work at any leading resort or kind of touring job, in which i get the opportunity to work at the places where people come to enjoy themselves. I dont want to be working in kitchens in hotels. I would love to work as a guy who interacts with customers and ensure their satisfaction (in hotels or resorts) or also have the possibility of climbing senior positions.
Please help me how do i go about it?? It would be great, too, if you throw some points about salary package a fresher can get??
I look fairly good and have a height of about 5 feet 5-6 inches.
Please suggest.
Thanks!
hey thanks kari for replying... i added height and looks because i guess they require pleasing personality (which i have) and may be some height requirements....
would you like to alter something now?? and of course thanks for replying.....
Well if you don't have some sort of degree in hospitality or hotel management, you'll probably have to start at the bottom and work your way up. So it usually starts with working at the front desk and/or concierge desk. Just start applying to hotels. Since you want to work in a resort (?) apply at higher end hotels, or even start at a resort. The biggest problem with front desk work is it really doesn't pay much. Most people start at minimum wage or just a little above that if you have experience. The best way to climb up though, is of course, being the best at what you do. Being efficient, getting great guest feedback, and even offering suggestions that might help make things smoother or make guest that much more comfortable.
...not sure why you included your looks and height.

Air Conditioner Expert.....please help!?
There is a pipe extending about 6" down from the ceiling of my garage and I have to keep a bucket under it and empty the bucket of water at least once a day.
A plumber told me this was a A/C problem. The inside A/C unit where I change the filter is as high as it can go on the wall of a cathedral ceiling.
It's been difficult enough for this 5' senior to climb the ladder and change the filter but now this leaking problem in the garage has developed. Further, it is starting to erode the wall between the garage and inside utility room.
Is this in fact an A/C problem. I need to know before I have to put out more money to have someone come out to just tell me this has nothing to do with the A/C. I am living on a very fixed income.
Thanks to any and all that can offer me advice.
The pipe is most likely the drain from your auxiallary condensate drain pan. Your a/c indoor unit makes condensate as warm moist air from your home passes over the evaporator coil. This water is normally drained away by the condensate drain. If the condensate drain line becomes plugged up, water will spill into a pan located under your indoor unit and the water will drain from a pipe located somewhere in plain view. It is done like that specifically to let you know that your main condensate drain is not carrying away the water. You will need to clear the blockage in that main condensate drain. Then you can help to keep that drain free flowing by pouring a little bit of bleach in it every couple of months.
